Certain Blessings…

Certain Blessings… This verse (1 Samuel 1:19) tells of this family’s faithful-ness to God, just before Hannah’s birth of the first judge, Samuel. This was the result of her prayers to God, offering this child to His service. Often in the Bible when a woman is barren and God opens her womb, a special child is born. Sarah was barren and was given Isaac. Rachel was barren and received Joseph. Elizabeth was barren and birthed John the Baptist.

There is no certainty that a barren Christian woman will have a child, as many can attest today. Nevertheless, we do have a promise that what is bar-ren in our lives is the harbinger of blessing. This may be hard to see, but God has promised to relieve us when we trust Him as Hannah did. How we receive blessings is up to God, but we can be sure they are coming.

The Bible promises that God will give back everything we have lost in His name — plus some. It happens sometimes on earth, but it is certainly figured into the balance sheet in heaven. Father, thank You that nothing is more certain than Your blessings to the faithful. — an Open Windows devotion
